Move images to new hard drive

Post by ncite » Thu Nov 17, 2011 6:44 pm

We have images saved on multiple external hard drives. Can we move all the images from these hard drive to one large hard drive. I looks like pacs puts the drive letter in when it saves the images so it can find them.

Yes, you can simply move all of the images into the new location under the new larger hard drive, then submit an Import job from that new location from the Tools->Import menu, so that PacsOne Server can update the meta-link information for the corresponding images to their new paths under the new storage location.

So I will use the Import from removable media option? Also It's 3tb of images can I import them all at once or should I break it up into smaller amounts?

It depends on whether or not you want to copy the raw Dicom images from the Import Source Directory to a Destination Folder. If so, then you should use the Import from Removable Media option and specify the Destination Folder for PacsOne Server to copy the raw Dicom images into.

For such large amount (3 TB) of datasets to import, if your server has sufficient memory resources, e.g., > 8 GB, then you should be able to import all of them under a single directory. Otherwise you'll need to separate the images into multiple directories (e.g., 3 directories with 1 TB each) and run an Import job for each of them.

Is it possible to keep the original sending AE title, during import?

The original sending AE Title (i.e., Calling AE Title) information is only available during a Dicom protocol transfer, but no such information is available during the import of raw Dicom image files, because no Dicom transfer is involved during file import.
