There are 2 types of Dicom viewers supported by PacsOne Server:

1. The web-based Dicom viewers:

These viewers run from within the web browsers used to navigate the PacsOne web pages, they are either Java applet or Active-X based. These viewers retrieve Dicom images via the HTTPD protocol from the web server (Apache or IIS) component of PacsOne Server. Currently PacsOne supports 3 Java applet based viewers (1 free/open-source and 2 commercial) and 1 Active-X based viewer (iQ-X), and all of the Java applet viewers are either URL-linked or can be directly downloaded from our website:

http://www.pacsone.net/download.htm

Each viewer comes with its own installation package and instructions for installation on the server where PacsOne is installed (no client install is necessary other than the Java JRE), the commercial viewers also have their own pricing structures as they are not being offered by us.

2. The Stand-alone Dicom viewers:

These viewers run from a stand-alone PC (usually a diagnostic workstation) that is equipped with specialized display hardware (e.g., N mega-pixel monitors, etc.). These viewers include eFilm, GE Advantage Workstation, etc., and they retrieve images from PacsOne Server using the standard Dicom protocol. These viewers also come with their own installation packages, and need to be installed on each client PC where you want to view the Dicom images.

The iQ-X viewer is an Active-X based viewer being offered by Image Information Systems (IIS):

http://www.image-systems.biz/

But they seem to be bundling the iQ-X viewer with the iQ-WEB product (an OEM version of PacsOne), so you should contact IIS directly and see if they offer the iQ-X viewer unbundled.

I did quite a bit of research on this and settled on Mediview.

Mediview is not free but I find it worth every penny, just like pacsone! This is more so if you will be using the applications for teleradiology.
